Gatsby the Galaxy Kitty

Gatsby the Galaxy Kitty

Gatsby is a 5-year-old tuxedo cat with a rare pigmentation condition called vitiligo, which gives him his interesting white spots on black fur that resemble stars in the night sky. His owner, Jean Noyes, says his stars started showing when he was 6 months old.

Jean actually tried to scrub those first white spots on his face off, thinking he got into something, but it turns out this was just the beginning of his transformation into the beautiful kitty he was meant to be.

Gatsby’s stunning appearance has already earned him thousands of followers on social media and over a million views on TikTok. One look at this dapper gentleman, and it’s obvious why.

The condition that gives Gatsby his unique appearance, vitiligo, is hereditary but not noticeable at birth, as the onset is usually in young adulthood. The condition causes cats to develop bleached areas of skin that also occasionally involve their hair coat and claws. Apparently, the condition is most common in Siamese cats. Vitiligo causes no other health problems and there is no treatment for cats. Cats with this condition live normal, healthy lives.
