To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the album Mandatory Fun, Weird Al Yankovic has dropped a new polka medley on Youtube titled “Polkamania!” If you’re familiar with Weird Al’s previous polka medleys, they contain a medley of popular radio hits sung by Al with a polka arrangement replacing their original musical styles.
This latest single includes Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” ” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” Adele’s “Hello,” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” The video itself features a different animator for each song and is a treat for animation fans.
Any time Weird Al releases new music, it’s a big deal to me. I’ve been a super fan of his for 40 years now. Al has previously stated that he doesn’t plan to release any more traditional albums, but he does intend to release one-off singles like this when inspiration hits him. Here’s hoping there’s a lot more Weirdness in our future!
